What you need to do as soon as possible after the disaster:

  • Stay Calm!
  • Check status of all household members. Are they accounted for?
  • Call 911 if you have a medical emergency, shock/electrical hazard, gas leak, or are trapped in your apartment.
  • DO NOT STRIKE A MATCH OR LIGHTER . If you have an unknown gas leak, the smallest flame could cause an explosion.
  • Go to the designated disaster check-in site for your area as soon as it is safe. In case of a flood, stay in your apartment unless it is unsafe to do so. Once you reach the check-in site, sign the check-in sheet so that we know you are safe.
